GEO Group – Tampa Secure Facility
Project Overview
Mission-critical facilities cannot lose power. Steel City Electric replaced the electrical service at a secure GEO Group facility in Tampa, building a new equipment pad, setting new Eaton switchgear and service-entrance equipment, coordinating the utility transformer, and installing a Generac industrial standby generator with an automatic transfer switch so the facility stays powered through outages. All work was performed under the facility's security protocols: background-checked electricians, controlled access, escorted work areas and documented shutdowns.
Scope of Work
Site excavation and new reinforced concrete equipment pad • New service-entrance switchgear (Eaton) and distribution sections • Utility transformer and metering coordination • Generac industrial standby generator with automatic transfer switch • Scheduled, documented shutdowns to keep the facility operating • Security-cleared crew with escorted access
Project Result
The facility now has a modern, code-compliant electrical service with standby power that starts automatically on utility loss. The work was completed with planned shutdown windows and no disruption to facility operations.
